Spending your holidays in Rio de Janeiro...

The holidays are anything but traditional these days. Reminiscing next to Christmas tree and huddling by the fireplace is now replaced by jetting to distant countries, laying on tropical beaches and dancing to samba on the streets. Millions of travelers find there way to Rio de Janeiro to celebrate Christmas and more importantly, the New Years to join in in the excitement.

If you find yourself here for Christmas, you won't find snow or pine trees and you can certainly leave your wintercoat at the security check. But don't be mistaken, Rio de Janeiro is alive with the Christmas spirit!

Wander down to the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon to witness the worlds largest floating Christmas Tree standing nearly 280 feet tall and weighing 542 tons. It's truly a beautiful spectacle to see at night - some times fireworks adorn the night sky to mark such a beautiful site.
