Located in one of the most architecturally charming areas of Rio de Janeiro, Discovery hostel was originally built in the mid-19th century as the vacation home of the baroness of Rio Negro, Eufrásia Teixeira Leite, an extraordinary investor and financially praiseworthy Brazilian. Before the creation of Flamengo Park, our home used to be a prize worthy beach house in one of the most affluential neightborhoods of the time.
In 1873 she decided to leave Brazil, sold the house in Rio and moved to Paris. Since then, the neighborhood went through a serious of transformations, leaving the place as an oasis of culture and good taste in an expanding city. Many of the homes and surrounding landmarks in this historically rich area are protected by the government who strives to preserve Rio's bountiful history.
True to form, our home maintains it's original facade and high ceilings. Over the years, new wooden floors and brilliant mosaic tiles have brought even more character to this unforgettable place.
Discovery Hostel Rio opens it's doors and invites you to stay with us in a place overflowing with historical value. Enjoy all the comforts and amenities of the present with the character and charm in this gem of the past.
